The Community Kitchen of Torrington has been blessed to witness and be a part of the transformative occurrences of our guests' experience.

This is currently the last funds I have in my pocket, but I’m grateful to The Community Kitchen of Torrington, for helping me in my time of need. Also, I see the hard work and sweat the employees and volunteers put into serving the community every day. Even though I gave my last funds, I know it’s going to a great cause. I see the work in action.

My name is Peggy - sober for 9 yrs October 26th, thanks to God. I’ve been coming to the Soup Kitchen since 2002, off and on…. The Soup Kitchen is a place where anyone can come and get a HEALTHY meal, a time to SOCIALIZE and having your needs met by @hartfordhealthcare that comes on a regular basis.

For myself, I’m able to live in my apartment and not worry about where MY NEXT MEAL WILL COME FROM. No one needs to go hungry in Torrington. There were times in the past that I didn’t feel safe here, the police were here quite often, and there was a lot of confusion.

That has changed and DJ has been the answer, he has made the difference. Things are now orderly…. The Community Kitchen of Torrington is a blessing from God”

Johnny

Johnny's Testimony is the perfect example of how a trauma-free, supportive environment (what we provide), coupled with one's own determination, can lead to sustainability and healing.

Johnny has made significant, meaningful improvements personally, financially, mentally and spiritually. We applaud his absolute refusal of becoming a "victim of society".

We witnessed Johnny go from unhoused to housed, unemployed to employed, and underemployed to gainfully employed. Lasty, and very likely, the most significant experience we were able to witness, was the reunification with his family. It's very difficult to articulate in words, witnessing that interaction in real-time.

There's an adage we generally hear often: "We are here for a reason". Johnny is a man who epitomizes that adage. Johnny was on life support, not once, but twice! So yes, we are here for a reason.

To reiterate, our environment is conducive to growth and healing. We do more than just feed people.

We ask, and thank you, for your continued, and on-going financial support.

Johnny's Testimony is what we literally do with your funding.

Tiffany

We are honored to announce our first ever, “Guest of the Year” award to Tiffany . We had the pleasure of recognizing her at our, “Celebration of Freedom” event on Juneteenth. We celebrated in tandem, freedom from suffering, despair, helplessness, hopelessness and abuse. Tiffany was faced these barriers, that most will find impossible to overcome. We are glad she had the strength to persevere, and more glad we were able to witness her transformation in real-time!
